Cookies & privacy

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer when you visit a website. Cookies don’t usually contain any personal information and are mostly useful to you. Generally they are used to improve your experience and inform marketers of your journey, so that in turn they can make improvements to the website.

Essential Cookies

‘Essential’ cookies let you move around the website ensuring that the vital features work. These cookies don’t gather any information that could be used for marketing purposes or remembering where you have been on the internet.

We use essential cookies to:

• Format text
• Keep users logged in when using the intranet
• Control our site through the content management system (CMS)

Essential cookies will NOT be used to:

• Gather information that could then be used to advertise products or
services to you
• Remember your username or preference beyond your current visit

As the lowest level of cookies available, accepting ‘essential’ cookies is a condition of using Herefordshire Headway website. Without these cookies our website wouldn’t function and would become very difficult for you to use.

Functional Cookies

We are transitioning away from Vimeo video player to Tube Player which strips out all tracking cookies.

As we currently still use a Vimeo embedded video player on our site, Vimeo states that their embeddable video player uses first-party cookies that they consider essential to the video player experience. Our Vimeo settings will block the player from tracking any session data, including all cookies and analytics. This will have the same effect as enabling a Do Not Track setting in your browser.

Please be aware that if you leave our embedded player and visit a Vimeo website, Vimeo and third parties will set cookies in your browser. Vimeo sets essential cookies to enable certain features and remember your preferences. For example, cookies keep you logged in, allow you to purchase items, and maintain your language and volume settings. Third parties set cookies for both essential and non-essential purposes including analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) and advertising (e.g. Google DoubleClick for Publishers).

More information concerning Vimeo cookie policy can be found HERE.
