Brain Injury Awareness Week This year during Brain Injury Awareness Week Headway focused on the information given by A&E departments to those who sustain minor head injuries. The main areas of the campaign were to: Highlight the danger signs that require patients with head injury to immediately return to hospital having been discharged; and Highlight the need for high-quality information on post-concussion symptoms, which can persist for anything from a few days to several months or even years. Herefordshire Headway planned a series of events to coincide with Brain Injury Awareness Week 2010 - please check our Events web page for details. Action for Brain Injury Week 2009 took place from 11-17 May. The theme was cycle helmets. As many Headway service users will testify, helmets can save lives. With the cost of travelling increasing, it is likely the number of people taking to their bikes instead of their cars will increase. As a pro-cycling organisation, Headway would welcome any such trend. However, with more people taking to the roads on bicycles, there's even greater need to promote vital safety messages. Therefore, during the week, we were encouraging cyclists of all ages to wear helmets.
